Charley’s Grilled Subs Celebrates National Philly CheeseSteak Month in '09
Recognized as one of the largest Philly Steak chains, Charley’s Grilled Subs based in Columbus, Ohio, has partnered with the National Kidney Foundation to celebrate National Philly CheeseSteak Month throughout the month of January at all of its 365 locations worldwide. The campaign supports awareness of this favored comfort food, while also promoting the health benefits of eating lean meat and vegetables. The company will donate 10 cents of each sandwich sold during the month of January (up to $10,000) to support the National Kidney Foundation’s, www.kidney.org, commitment to prevent and treat kidney and urinary tract diseases, and increase the availability of organs for transplantation.
James Pa, senior director of marketing for Charley’s, noted, “Last summer, one of our franchisees donated one of his own kidneys to an employee. As a result, we were all moved by his actions – as well as the National Kidney Foundations’ efforts, overall. Partnering with them during National Philly CheeseSteak Month is the right thing to do.”
Many studies point to the health benefits of consuming lean meat and vegetables as part of a healthy, “better for you” diet. Charley’s signature Philly CheeseSteak and Philly Chicken subs remain a healthier alternative to similar sandwiches made by competitors. With the option of low or zero calorie condiments, Charley’s subs are prepared with ingredients that fall into four out of the six major food groups, providing protein (meat), vegetables, dairy (cheese) and carbohydrates (bread).
In business for more than two decades, the restaurant chain, with locations in 39 states and 11 countries,
www.Charleys.com, has been recognized at the top of more than ten national lists for successful franchising, entrepreneurship and management.
